Profile
Heritage Financial Strategies is the evolution of The Infinity Group, a new beginning of the corporation who’s moniker was “Where Service Never Ends”. Infinity served the St. Louis community and clients throughout the United States for 32 years providing tax, accounting, financial planning and real estate brokerage services. Ronald Henson joined Gary Hickman as Managing Partner in 1990 while Gary continued his full time Human Resources career with FedEx Express in the St Louis market. During the partnership of two life long friends, High School classmates and college roommates, Gary and Ronald grew the Infinity Group to the level of serving over 1500 tax clients with three offices in St Louis City and County. This was done with a staff of 10 employees for over a decade. In 2005, Gary and his family transferred with his FedEx Human Resources position to the Detroit Metro Market. Ronald continued to manage the company in St Louis as Gary serviced clients from Michigan and returned to St Louis on a monthly basis.
So here’s where the evolution of Heritage Financial Strategies began. Two things happened during Gary’s 8.5 years in Michigan. First, Gary’s St Louis partner, Ronald Henson was unable to continue managing the business full-time after 2012. Secondly, Gary’s career with FedEx was coming to an end as Gary was planning to retire from FedEx after 30 years on January 16, 2014. Gary was also planning to come back to St Louis and work with Ronald full time for The Infinity Group for tax season 2014.
Humans make plans, but God’s plans are foreknown and predestined, so Gary’s plan had to be modified when FedEx announced that they needed to reduce it’s staff headcount by a substantial percentage and would be offering very generous Voluntary Buy-Out Packages to employees that qualified based on company continuous service. With his 29.5 years of continuous service Gary Hickman quickly and gratefully accepted FedEx’s generous Voluntary Buy-Out Package. On May 7, 2013, FedEx notified the employees who would receive the buyout (Yes, it took almost a year before Gary received official notification). May 31, 2013 was Gary’s last day with FedEx.
Armed with the knowledge that Ronald would not be working in 2014 and being “free at last” 7.5 months early. Gary decided to continue the work and use the experience gained after 32 years. Gary started to develop a mature financial services company.
Heritage Financial Strategies was launched in March 2014 with Gary Hickman as “Strategic Advisor”. Heritage will continue to provide individual, business tax consulting, real estate brokerage services and financial planning services. Heritage’s new mission and focus will be to help all clients have “A Secure Future”.
